History

Rendering of plans for the Malaysia facility

Novolyte's history can be traced back to 1958, when Grant Chemical established a production base in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. In 1969, Ferro acquired this base from Grant Chemical. In 2004, Ferro set up its Fine Chemicals Division. In 2008, Arsenal Capital Partners acquired Ferro's Fine Chemicals Division and officially renamed it Novolyte Technologies, Inc. The company established its headquarters in the United States, along with production bases in Baton Rouge (as mentioned above) , Louisiana and Suzhou, China. In 2012, the BASF Group acquired Novolyte Technologies, Inc. and renamed both its Suzhou, China base and U.S. base as BASF Battery Materials Co., Ltd.

In 2017, Capchem formally acquired 100% equity of BASF Battery Materials Suzhou Co., Ltd., and renamed it Novolyte Battery Materials (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. in October of the same year. Meanwhile, leveraging Capchem's industrial resources, Novolyte accelerated its in-depth development in the new energy electrolyte field. In September 2018, Capchem reached a major agreement with BASF Corporation, and Novolyte successfully acquired BASF's electrolyte business in Europe and the United States, including core assets such as key technologies and the Selectilyte brand.

In March 2025, in response to the rapid rise of the new energy industry in Southeast Asia, Novolyte took a new step in its global layout with the official establishment of Novolyte Technology Sdn. Bhd. The company is committed to providing customers with more timely and efficient supply chain responses and localized services.
